Halida Dinova is a champion of rare and interesting twentieth-century repertoire from her native Russia and America, as well as the classical repertoire.

Sergey Malov and Michael Houstoun

Sergey Malov, born 27 years ago in Russia, has won nine major violin competitions during the past 12 years, culminating with the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in 2011. 

Throughout this nation-wide tour he is accompanied by the acclaimed New Zealand pianist Michael Houstoun

Leonari Piano Trio

Leonari Trio was created when Maria Mo and Eddy King teamed up to butcher Beethoven's lovely third cello sonata. Two years of screaming abuse and a lotta chamber love later, they plucked the blondest child (Hilary Hayes) from kindergarten to contribute on the fiddle - Leonari Trio was born, an event not yet noted in Grove's Dictionary. The Trio is tutored by members of NZ Chamber Soloists at the University of Waikato.

Pepe Becker and Helen Webby

Pepe Becker and Helen Webby - "Life leads to death and out of death comes new life and love - 'tis the nature of things."  Their enchanting programme - Love's Nature - sings of births, deaths and lovers' unions. Beginning with haunting mediæval monody it progresses through baroque, classical, romantic, 20th century and contemporary works, coming full circle with arrangements of Irish folk songs. Featuring the songs of:

  • Hildegard of Bingen, Guillaume de Marchaut, Henry Purcell, G F Handel
  • Louis Spohr, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré
  • Philip Cannon, Gareth Farr, Helen Bowater, Irish folk songs

Aroha String Quartet and Andrew Joyce

26 Aroha Quartet

With "accomplished brilliance, soulfulness and sublime intensity in perfect balance and tonal unity", the Aroha Quartet has become firmly established as one of the finest chamber music ensembles in New Zealand. The programme features Schubert’s wonderful cello quintet (D 959). It also includes a String Quintet, written for the group by Peter Tornyai in 2010, which is said to begin where Schubert’s cello quintet ends.
